1979 850G Headlight Ring and Glass

    Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone can confirm that a headlight from a 1983 850 will fit my 1979? I have the ears and bucket, so I'm trying to find rings, glass, and a bulb that will fit what I have.

Also, if anyone has any spare rings/assemblies around that they'd be willing to part with I'd offer up some cash for them.

    Thanks guys,
    John

I believe it will fit, and it will be a nice upgrade.
The '79s came with a sealed-beam light, the '80-and-ups came with halogen lights with replaceable bulbs.
    Much better pattern and brightness.

If the '83 is a '850G (not '850GL) it will fit.

Ahhh, good point, I should have caught that.

At least his '79 is not an L model. They did not start until '80.

          Hmm, interesting.

Well, after looking through the diagrams on http://alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm and trying to find some really tell-tale difference I could notice from a picture, I've noticed that the adjusting screws are on different sides depending on whether it's a G or GL. On the G, the screw is on the left hand side, on the GL it's on the right... the picture of the one I'm looking at has the screw on the left. Think that's enough to say it will definitely fit my bike?

          Thanks again guys!
