    Snap rings in diaphragms = headache

    hello everyone..
    Ive been trying to get to the needle in my diaphragms..
    so ive been trying to get out that snap ring in the bottom..
    but ive tried 3 different snap-ring pliers but all seen to short or to wide to get to them..
    any suggestions or brands of tools to look for?

      Hemostats are what I use.

        The trick is to get something on the end that will grab. Either bend the tips or groove them with a file. These were done on the last camping trip doing carb jetting at altitude each morning

              Those cheapo needle nose pliers are what i use to remove circlips...

              Grind the tips a bit so they fit in them there little holes.

              Getting those clips back into the groove can be a PITA as well.

              While pulling the needle down with one hand to expose the groove, drop the clip down the well, then squeeze it together using the pliers with your other hand to put the back end of the clip in the groove. Then I simply push the protruding "ears" down into the groove wiith a small flat blade screwdriver. You'll feel them snap into the groove.

                      I use these Motion Pro Snap Ring Pliers... http://z1enterprises.com/detail.aspx?ID=2868
                      They work well to get the snap ring out of GS master cylinders as well.

                        well i got some of those craftsman needle nose pliers and managed to get the rings out.. and replaced one of the washers with a much smaller one.. so now i manage to rev past 8k whereas before i could only go to 4.5 and then it almost stalled..

                          just dealt with that myself...

                          I cut-off a couple of Allens that fit in my Craftsman clip remover and ground the ends to fit the little holes. Now I have a set of extra longs.

                            That has got to be about two notches richer. Have you changed your main jet? What mods have you done to the bike?

                              i used hemostats as well they worked great for me cause you can also lock em while holding the circlip.


                              when i did my DJ stage 3 i reused the plastic washers as it said to, you might be a bit rich with that little guy in there
