    1100GK Air Box

    1982 GS1100GKZ (not GK2)
    Looking into airbox

See the opening on left (rear) lower part of the air box.
Should there be some sort of 'snorkel' on that opening?
I recall that the 80 850G I had did have.
But microfische for the GK doesnt show any such thing (least not on sheet for 'air cleaner').
The finish of the paint around that opening seems to be differernt like maybe there used to be something there.
And if there is suppose to be a rubber 'snorkle', will it make much differerence if its not there?

    .

Had 850G for 14 years. Now have GK since 2005.

Dave, you definately need the snorkel. When I got my 1000 it did not have it and I ended up getting an airbox from e-bay. For now use some duct tape and close off about 1/2 to 5/8 of the opening size and you will run much better. Mine would fall completely flat from 4 - 6 RPM and run decent up to 4 and after 6. I do not have an extra snorkel on hand, otherwise I would send it to you.

Mine fell off one day about 4 years ago, and have not replaced it since. I run a K&N filter and seem to have no problems with the way the bike runs ( all stock). If you can find one, and your bike is running "lean", then reinstall it. If not, either the duct tape method given earlier or just leave it off.
