    Couple questions

I took my air filter off my bike and noticed some of the weather striping that goes around the air filter cover is missing.i am just wondering will that make a bike not run good having the air fliter sealed tight in the air box.also the air fuel screws on the top of the carbs i notice my are missing the plugs i hear their are suppose to be set to 2 1/2 some how?

Yes if you are still running the stock airbox you will need to re-seal the box ends. Was the seal on the filter cage top still good? That also needs to be a tight seal. The 2 1/2 turns you mention on the air screws is from lighty seated. Be VERY careful when turning them in, if you tighten them too hard you can break the tip off in the carb body and that is a tough repair. What do you plugs look like? Are you using the stock pilots and mains?

Sorry thats what i mean the seal on the filter cage is missing alot of foam pieces.i bought some weather strip seal foam at home depot looks to be the same stuff. what does lightly seated mean i hear that alot when it comes to the air screws? Plugs are black but the tips are tan. stock pilots and mains i wouldnt know cause i got the bike it ran great so didnt ask any questions.Owner just told me what he done to it which is listed in my sig.

The weatherstripping foam is what I used on my airbox cage. Since you now have the foam you might also check the airbox end covers and re-seal them if they need it. If you plug tips are tan and the insulators are black I would suspect the PO already re-did the jets before you got the bike. How does it run? If it runs good I would not adjust the air screws, black is rich and tan or light grey on plug color is good. Unless you are getting terrible mileage it is better to be a little richer on your mixture than lean. Too lean results in a white color on the plugs and can also damage the motor if is run that way for too long. Lightly seated is turning the airscrews clockwise until they bottom out in the carb body but if you use too much force doing this the tips can break off and they can be a real PITA to remove or you can also damage the carb body removing them.

Well i cleaned the air filter with the k&n recharger kit.
I messed with the air mixture screws when it was running but it helped for a while. It ran good then it would act like its out of gas for a second the run clear and good again but it kept doing that back and forth acting like its out of gas. I dont know what to do with the bike. i wanna dip the carbs in cleaner and try it and go from there i guess.

Check your tank for rust. Sounds like you may have intermittent gas flow. A little crud in the tank can cause a lot of problems.
