    Are 82 Katana shocks rebuildable?

The stock shocks are similar to the IKON shocks with the adjustable damping.

    Can they be rebuilt?

From what I've found, if they screw apart, they can be rebuilt. If welded together, as most stock shocks are, nobody will fool with them.

The rear shocks on the 83 Kat I am restoring CANNOT be rebuilt, they are seam welded, I just bought some progressive ones which look the part!

What exactly about your shocks are wrong? If the cartridge is in good shape and all you need are new springs then maybe. I know nothing about the shocks on a Kat but if theyre like the ones on a GS750, you can remove the top shock mount and remove the springs. Even with the predampen style. Post a pic of the shock with a close up of top and bottom, who knows.
