Two steps forward, three steps back...

I finally got the rear tire fixed on Friday. It had a tiny tiny shard of metal in the tire that was slowly rubbing the inner tube.

I was thrilled, took the gf out for a ride today to a local street fair and the TonUp Chicago Mods Vs. Rockers bike show. All was well til we got about half way home. The steering locked up! There is some serious notchiness to the steering tube, I'm thinking the bearings need to be replaced. I started to limp home riding super slowly and sticking to side streets when we stopped for a second in a grocery store parking lot to take a break and pick up some Mexican food. Ten minutes later we walk out to a dead bike I managed to pop the clutch and get home but the battery is d.e.a.d. I have no energy to go through the Stator Papers for a third time and the prospect of replacing the bearings without a garage is leaving me a little overwhelmed.

Maybe I should take the trade for that 75 MGB...

Bearings are time consuming .. but even I did it.


Stator or rectifier .. even I did it.



Don't bail .. it is worth it to hang in there.

if not, if you think you have problems NOW, wait till you start playing with an MG and Mr Lucas, Prince of Darkness (Lucas Motto: Get home before dark) Suzuki GS wiring is like designed by NASA compared to that crap......

My first car was an MGB with the license plate "MG'S MG" and I know the Prince of Darkness well. I'm just really depressed that every time I think I have her running something else screws up. My new job is 12hrs a day minimum so I have very little free time.

I've also got a lot of chain slap even after it was adjusted by my friend who is a Harley dealership tech with 20 years experience so I need new chain and sprockets as well.
