dash lights illuminate from 1st to 2nd

My dash lights (all the red ones) seem to illuminate when I shift from 1st to 2nd... through neutral. This doesn't happen all the time, but enough to post an inquiry about it....as it's just started happening a few weeks ago

What's the deal?

Oh, and might I mention that I've been consistently commuting in the rain. And it's been raining on the east for weeks.

Hey Maro, how's do'n. Sounds like you have a short in the harness where the signal from the shift lever locator is touching a ground wire (just my guess) somewhere and causing a backfeed through your warning lights in the speedo. You can trace the wires back through the loom or better yet, see if Basscliff has a diagram on his site and have a look.

Moisture does strange things to the electricals and it may be possible that it is in a switch (ignition) as the warning lights are on prior to starting the bike. Somewhere in that circuit...
