Clutch lever-way loose

Thank you for putting up with my newbie- ness.

I tried adjusting the cable with the lever pulled in. Does seem a bit better. However when the bike is in gear- it starts rolling immediately after I let the clutch out even half an inch. So its bucking foward, going into gear too fast.

Does this mean its too tight?

If so what end should I adjust at?

BTW- the clutch housing on my bike is on the left side of engine and oil gauge is on the right.

Yes, it does mean it is too tight.

When the cable is properly adjusted you should be able to move the lever just a little with no friction at all: the lever should be free to wiggle just a tiny bit.

Do not pull the lever when making adjustments on the cable.

Yes, this is the correct procedure. You want just a little slack on the lever before you pull it in and it doesn't matter what bike you have.

I like to have some adjustment available at the lever, so I start with the adjustment on the case and try to get the slack correct there first. If you cable is stretched too far you may not be able to remove most of the slack, then you need to replace it.

It's a simple adjustment, don't make it harder than it is.
