so this morning on my way to work on the highway my tach started jumping around a bit. When i got to work I snugged up the two cable connections finger tight and today everything was fine, was this just my cable being lose?Tags: None -

Mine was doing the same thing, finger tightening fixed mine also. Haven't done the lithium grease yet but definitely wouldn't hurt.Comment

Mine was doing the same thing on a trip this past weekend. I put some WD-40 on the cable. Seems to have cured the problem.Comment

My speedo needle started to bounce then after about 25 miles it snapped. It was fine prior to that.1979 GS850G

The cables use the same princiapal as the older cable driven speedos on cars, there supposed to be lubed every other year...or so
You can try lubing them, sometimes it works......but replacing the cable is the best bet. The internal cable "rod" is starting to stick, and flexing as it is being driven....hense the needle bouncing
