Non 0 ring chain, is Ok street and daily use?

I just think, could I use 630 non-o-ring chain on my GS1100 for more space for a 180 rear tire. At present, the old O-ring chain on the bike always hit the tire edge.

Would non o-ring chian be any problem, like reliability and performance?
How frequent to clean and lubricate it?
I used to lub my o-ring chain every month. I used two o-ring chains for my bike and each was last for 4-5 years.

Get a proper 530 chain if you need clearance. No reason to buy a junk chain.

I try to find a suitable 530 chain but they are about 25mm wide same as 630 chian 25.3mm(DID).

I found 630 non o ring is just about 23mm.

Sorry, suffering brain fade. You are right; 530 and 630 is the same width.

Guess that non-oring chain is worth a try but I still think 530 is the way to go.

Go with the regular chain. Keep it clean and lube it on a regular basis. Depends on how much you ride on how long it lasts. I would guess 5000 miles.

I am going to buy a 630 non-O-ring chain. I found 2 DID and 1 EK options in ebay. Which one you recommend? Would the DID-HK is thicker than DID-K?
I find EK one is 22.65mm thick.

Go with the chain with the highest tensile strength. A non o-ring chain is fine. I have one on my GS. I usually lube it every other time I ride. So far I've got 3k miles on it with no issues. It cost about 1/2 of what an o-ring chain costs.

An O ring chain is one of those new fangled ideas that'll never catch on.....

Don't forget that they didn't exist until relatively recently (am I showing my age?) so as long as you keep the chain clean and well lubed you'll be fine.
