    Need Ignition Coils for a 79 GS750

Any ideas where to get these? After market or used or NOS?

Would like to keep the cost as low as reasonably possible, any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I suggest you buy used OE parts. The Parts Wanted and Parts For Sale forums is the proper place for threads like this.

BTW, the OE coils are high quality and often are blamed for issues that they are not responsible for. The plug caps are the first thing to fail, but high quality NGK replacements are available for $4 each.

Thanks for the advice. I tested the coils, and they tested ok, but cylinder 1 and 4 are firing very weakly. Could be the caps, eh? I'll check into that. I'd rather spend $8 bucks than $100. :P

I suggest you check voltage at the coils. There are lots of threads here detailing how to put a relay in the circuit to make sure your coils are getting 12 volts. Resistance builds up in the harness which results in low voltage at the coils and a weak spark as a result. Do a search for more info.

          Hi Mr. StevieD,

Not firing well on 1 & 4? Check out this thread, just in case.

There's also lots of coil relay mod info on my website. Keep us informed.

          Thank you for your indulgence,
