Tach needs some help. Can I fix it?

So my tach is a bit jumpy and not reliable anymore. i don't know if I just need to lube the innards or what, but is it possible to crack that puppy open and clean/lube it?

    Thanks,
Yes it is possible to "crack it open". you can either cut the plastic around the circumference of the plastic (not to deep!), or you can pry the metal ring that is folded around the plastic body a little bit each time until it's removed.

    I cut mine apart.

***edit* have you checked the cable for damage or kinks? have you lubed it?
