    Carburetors...

I got myself into a little mixup after i pulled my carbs apart to clean them. I had fuel coming out of the air intake but i fixed it and started another problem. When you pull the rod out for choke, normally it clicks and stays out until you push it back in. now when i pull the choke rod out, it doesn't click it just snaps back in when you let go of it. I found this part on the floor under my workspace and i think it goes to one of the carbs but im not sure. Does it look familiar to anybody?

What bike or carb set might it be from?

      Which model bike? Stock carbs?
And, if you found that third "part" on your shop floor, you have a serious problem!

Seriously, at least you found the part!!!

Doesn't look like any part from Mikuni BS32's. What bike do you have?

They are stock Z model carbs off of a 1982 GS300L. Sorry for not posting the model of the bike.

I looked at the carb schematic and that part doesn't look like anything on the diagram.

That is why we often make the request that you add a simple signature to show what you ride.
Does not have to be anything elaborate like some of us tend to have. It can simply say "1982 GS300L".

To generate a sig line, go to the User CP in the upper left corner, find the Signature area, generate away.
When you save it, it will become part of all your subsequent posts. Need help? Toss me a PM.

Most often, the choke rod detent is a spring loaded ball bearing hidden in a rod support.

It looks like a pawl from a ratchet. had one apart lately?

where is your choke knob located?

The knob is on the carbs on this model .. pulls out by hand like the cable does on the 4cyl bikes.

One of these days when I get some free time, I would like to get rid of that
g@&&*mn cable and convert to a pull knob at the carb bodies. I'm surprised someone here has not come up with a "choke mod" to get rid of the cable.

I didn't mind it at all (the manual knob) .. it is more precise than the cable for sure.

                              You've done this mod?

How about some details and/or pics??
