I just got me a new petcock for my 1100L and i have just one dumb question about it. The word prime is towards the top so does this mean that when the screw driver slot is up and down it is in prime mode? The reason i ask is because the one on my bike now is straight up and down all the time , but it was rebuilt by the po so who knows?

well, you can always pull the fuel line off & see what happens in that position... would certainly be nice to know for sure where prime is. -
If I understand the
1980 petcock, you also need a quick bit of vacuum to get it going on prime.
Once it starts flowing, you don't need the vacuum any more.
In other words, no gas will flow, no matter which way you turn it.
Apply a little bit of vacuum, then release.
If the gas stops, you have the petcock in the ON position.
If it gas keeps flowing, it's in the PRIME position.

I know I saw that documented somewhere... Pretty sure vertical is prime. I could be wrong though.
A rebuilt petcock may still not function correctly, so it would be best to test it for the action Steve describes. If it doesn't work correctly, Z1 has replacements.
