mapp gas ?

I'm having an awful time trying to remove rotor from crank.
I've tried a puller and it just pulls off stripping threads.
I put heat on with a propane torch and air impact , still nothing.
What is mapp gas,does this have to be red hot ?

mapp gas is just a gas that gets the torch hotter than propane can. if you already tried heat, switching gas, to me, is not going to do the trick.

How about that "freeze" spray stuff?? Members here have reported success with it...

The auto parts stores carry it - use liberally.

shouldnt have to be red hot, but make sure your heating the rotor only, and not the snout, cause it will swell in the rotor
hit on it a few times with a rubber mallet, try some penetrating oil, then heat the rotor hotter than hell around the snout,try to keep away from the threads,good luck

It is a few hundered degrees hotter than propane; It made the difference getting my GS1100E rotor off. As previously said keep teh heat off of the magnets, It still takes alot of force

All I can say is mine came off with without heat using the OEM Suzuki puller with about 160 PSI 1/2" impact hammering for about 15-20 seconds. I had the rotor nut removed but I thought I read here other have done it with the nut loose but not removed.

Funny thing, first time I tried the impact I actually forgot to remove the rotor nut. Went back and read some threads and then realized my mistake. I then removed the nut and used the puller tool again as stated above

Mapp gas is good especially when used with oxygen. Bernzomatic makes a small portable torch that uses mapp and oxygen cylinders. Much hotter than propane/air. The torch is good to have because you can even braze with it, also works real well if you have to solder a wet pipe.

Thanks for teh tip. That would be a cheap way to go using the HTS-2000 brazing rod.

Picked up a cyclinder today at my local hardware store.Only concern is
the guy at the store says I need a different tip,not the one on my propane torch.The didn't sell such a tip and neither does local welders supply.
My tip looks looks like it will fit,so hopefully it won't melt B4 I get that
rotor off.

Do you have a home depot nearby? Bernzomatic makes a torch head for mapp gas. The home depot should carry their products.

Yes they work great, be careful of the oxygen bottles I have gotten them from the store only to find them empty. With a little playing you can even cut thin metal. I once cut a master padlock off with one and no it was not in a position to where I could hit it with a hammer

Tried mapp gas but my (motion pro)puller stripped ,pulling off of rotor.Sure wish I took Rays advice and bought OEM.
I wonder it it's too late,the threads on the rotor look pretty rough
but not as bad as those in the puller.
I'm running out of idea's and patience.
Should I buy the OEM puller ,or will I just destroy it on my damaged
rotor.

Do a search about packing grease in the thread bore. This is a pretty good trick i hear. Basically it uses hydralic pressure to help pop off the rotor.
