Incorrectly set-up carbs, or poorly perfoming ones, will cause the buzz vibration.

My experience with melted pistons is limited, but mine did not cause much noticable buzziness. The melted aluminimum which solidified in the exhaust port did hold the exhaust valve open, which increased valve clearance considerably. The increased clearance did set up a pronounced amount of tappet noise.
Initially, there was a considerable amount of smoke, which actually filled even the interior of the car.
With an overhead cam, rather than pushrods, the additional valve clearance may not be so audibly noticable.sigpic Too old, too many bikes, too many cars, too many things

We should let Bill explain the onset and aftermath of melted pistons as he has a very recent experienceMy experience with melted pistons is limited, but mine did not cause much noticable buzziness. (sorry more brilliance

Alternate response
I shot a narrow into the air
It fell to earth, I knew not square
Four-sided it flew, into the night
Rectangled it stopped, with no more flight.
I breathed the shaped fogs into the air
They floated aloft, across the square
For all those flights seeming all along
So vague and nebulous, yet never wrong.
Who would think that those two flights
Could merge together and create such might
Yet the Saxon horns with the klaxon sound
Sent the Angles searching for good ground.
Long, long afterward, my friends we see
Anglo-Saxons in the office oval and free,
And the land they created, beginning to end
Stands mighty and proud, as its peoples did blend.Comment
