Wheels are the same, carbs may the same but jetted differently. I have also seen a 1980 GS1000E with VM carbs, not sure what's up with that. 1981 1100E was a four valve per cylinder engine, 1980 1000E was a two valve engine, there was no 1981 1000E so something is not right here. I could use a few parts if you get it.

ok thanks mr kent, it does have 34 mm carbs, the motor has round head caps, (not like my squarehead caps) so i take it the motor parts wont swap?

I have not heard of a 81 GS1000e. I thought 1980 was the last year for the 2-valve E model.

                  Probably a misprint, looks like a pretty decent "80" GS 1000 "E".

NOTHING from the 8v 1000 motor will swap to your 16v 1100 motor. The carbs will swap if they are both BS type, (cv carbs) but the jetting is different. The 8v motors used larger jets than the 16v motors for starters...as well as a few other differences. The carb bodies are to my best observation, identical. Wheels, brakes, levers, parts like that will likely swap, but not much else.
