How are you guys mounting your Dyna DC1-1 coils?
I got a new set of green Dyna's in today, but realized a little too late that these don't just bolt onto my '85 550L. Is mounting them even possible if I fabricate a bracket of some kind? Do I have to get some mini's instead?Tags: None -

Don-lo
Some applications need spacers and longer bolts to hold them away from the frame. DON'T tighten the body hard against the frame! A local hardware store should have the bolts, nyloc nuts and spacers (even SAE hardware is ok, just keep it quiet

I put a pair on the same bike a few months ago... don't have a pic, but I just used beefy cable ties.
I cable tied through each coil mount hole to the frame. Then I put a thin pc of rubber between the coil body & the frame & used a long (doubled 2 ties together) cable tie cinched around the middle. The rubber strip provides a bit of vibration protection.
Solid as a rock & they sit nicely under the that little "L" tank.
Good luck,

With the spark plug wire leads angled forward you can either work together spacers and long bolts from the old coils or just zip-tie them to the frame. Use the connectors off the old coils. Cut and solder with eye ends.
I actually only have mine bolted on with one bolt each and zip-tied.Comment

I mounted mine using just the rear bolts, then tied the fronts together with a piece from a Meccano set. Solid.Comment
