I recall reading that with progressive spring replacements in the front forks that no air pressure is recommended. How about using any air pressure with catridge emulators?

air pressure is almost never recommended; With an 1100E at least there is an equalizer tube, otherwise the imbalance can be destabilizing

Air pressure is just a way of adding preload or slightly changing spring rate. It's better to get the spring setup for your weight rather than rely on air.

You can actually change oil height to achieve something similar but I would think that's beyond what we'll notice for average street riding.

Only for adding air. After you tighten the air lock screws the air in the forks become independent ?

No, I'm pretty sure they stay open. Those screws don't close the air passage, they just keep it from rotating on the fork tube. You don't have to open them to add air. Not completely sure as I don't run any air in mine.
