    Gs1000 1980

My #4 carb, is poping when at idle and when I back off the throttle when riding. Can someone tell me where to start looking to solve this. The carbs were just rebuilt all new O-rings everywhere. When idleing at between 12 and 15 hundred RPM, when I give it throttle it will die. At 2000 RPM it cranks up R's. Next problem, After the engine is warm and I shut it off it cranks over real slow. Why?

The popping is either a lean pilot circuit, clogged pilot circuit, bent intake valve or a non-adjusted valve.
The starter turning slow is either bad connections, dirty or bad brushes in the starter.

I set all the mixture screws seperately while running.

          Thank You Again

GS1000 1980 . I opened the Air Screws more, the problem solved. The best test ride yet. Thank You. I ride my GS500F to work every day. When I opened the throttle on the GS1000 test ride I got the first Idea how much more power it had, can't stop smiling.

If you think it runs well now, wait until you adjust the screws correctly.

Look up highest idle mixture adjustment.

Thank You, I'll do that. I have to give my wife a ride when I brought it home in boxes she never thought it would run again. That was just before last Christmas. Thanks again.

So it was a basket case, we definitely need before and after pictures now. Congrats on getting it together and running.

And a bit of advice, don't scare the wife.

And be absolutely sure to let her off before you dump it.
