Can anyone help me ID these carbs? Removed from my 78 GS1000.

They look to me like VM26s or VM28s. You'll have to measure the internal diameter on the head side to check (they actually measure around 0.8 to 0.9mm larger than 26 or 28mm). These would be standard fitment on a 78 GS1000 and size would depend on market.

No VM28's for US market GS bikes, those are 26's if they came off a 1000.

They did indeed come off the 1000 and from I can tell every bit of everything on this bike is still factory.

Seems odd that a 26mm carb would be enough for a 1000cc bike.
But thats just me..

Each carb only has to feed 250cc, what's wrong with that?

What size carbs does the 850 have?

750/850/1000 all use VM26's. They are maybe a little small for the 1000 but driveability is good and it's better to be small than too big.
