    821100e, 831100esd starter rotor puller ?

I am looking for some starter rotor size clarification.

I just received a 30 mm starter rotor puller I had ordered based on measuring the rotor threads on an 831100esd black engine on my bench. The puller matches as expected. I used this engine as reference when I ordered the puller.

I attempted to remove the starter rotor from my 821100e and the SOB is a 35mm.

From all I read before I ordered the part I thought the change to 35mm occured during 83 and through the 1150 models.

I think the 821000s Katana has a smaller (lighter) rotor. Did the 83 1100ESD model have a smaller rotor too?

Which 1100e's have the 30mm verse the 35mm?

Same thing here. I got the MP19, and the threads are too small and it's way too short to reach the the threads even if it was the right diameter. We need the MP29. So there goes another $50 bucks down the black hole.

Now you guys have learned why I suggest you go down to your local Suzuki dealer & order the FACTORY SUZUKI pulller!!! How many times does trying to save money end up COSTING you money?!! The SUZUKI puller is better than the aftermarket ones too. Ray.

I bought the Suzuki puller, just the wrong one for my 821100e. It does fit the other 1100ESD motor.

        I bought part# 09930-34932

Is it known which models have which rotors or do you have measure each bike to verify?

I think we have the "mid year change issue". I have an early (1200th) 82 1100, I think the the 30mm puller fits the later part of that year. They go for 30 bucks or so on ebay, which is where my wrong sized one is headed.

What makes me curious is my 831100ESD black engine has the 30mm rotor.

So either the engine has had the rotor replaced or the ESD model came with the smaller rotor from the factory.

I will order the 35mm puller.

Or someone put a small left end 82 crank in your 83! I would bet that is the most likely reason if you have a small left end rotor. Ray.

                80-82 takes the big puller.
83-86 1100/1150 takes the small puller.
