    Dyna Coil Question

Is there a different type of dna coils for point vs. electronic ignition? I am asking because I have been browsing ebay and have seen some listed as for points, while others were listed CDI. I noticed the "points" set had 4 screws on it.

Points is 5 ohm (Black I think), electronic is 3 ohm (green), some electronic is 1.5 ohm (red).

Didn't we already discuss this topic already in one of your other threads?

The factory coils are rated 3 - 5 ohms. Most guys with electronic ignition GS's are using the Green Dyna coils which have 3 ohms.

our ignitions are not cdi. They are electronic. Pre- '80's are points.
stock and aftermarket cdi ignitions use different ohm rating coils (1.5 ohms I think)

I was kind of asking a different question. I was asking if there was a difference between the coils listed as points coils and the others. I was not asking ohms ratings. So, no, I didn't already ask this question.

I know my questions will sometimes seem silly, but while I am ok with most of the engine work, all electrical stuff is brand new to me. So, I'm sorry if I seem extremely newbish at time. I just like to be 100% sure when I am trying ot fix things.

Don't sweat it. Ed's a geek (aka engineer)
              He's a good guy.
Point coils can be used on either but 5 ohm only on points.
