I forgot I have a digital camera (and a pretty good one too!)

Big T, have you done anything like this? Any local places that might help?

The last one is the cylinders taking one last soak with degreaser before they go in the dishwasher.

I've seen a lot worse. You might just get away with it!

I've done it on smaller parts when the wife was at work and I had the day off. Just don't tell her! It works very well....

          ITS IN!

EDIT: I have dish washing soap in there, as per rapidray.

              Round one of washing complete!

It was ok, nothing spectacular. After the first round, I grabbed a bamboo skewer and cleaned out some ports that were still clogged. There was even a rock in there!

              Here is the skewered soot:

And here is my wife even helping me put it back in the dishwasher. She's so nice!

Maybe try the Pots 'n Pans setting

On another note... my buddie has discovered baking his freshly bead blasted, rattle can clear coated, automotive accessories from his '66 Chev, with excellent results. 275 for 30 mins... or until golden... Then open all windows and doors until better half comes home

                  She's a keeper.

If you want to clean the dishwasher so you can do it again next time, throw a package of Country Time lemonade mix in the dishwasher and run it again.

The citric acid makes it all clean and it smells good inside too, and it gets rid of the hard water deposits inside the machine. If you point out how the bike parts made the dishwasher so much cleaner, you have an open invite to use this method many times.

Ok, so after the 2nd washing, not much improvement, but it is pretty clean. Yes, there is still some caked on stuff, but at this point, that is good enough for me. I'm never going to turn this thing into a show bike, but I just want a reliable bike.

                    Bam!

I didn't even realize you had an 8 valve motor! The prices I quoted you were for a 16 valve head. I can do an 8 valve head, everything I said before for 225. Let me know if I can help. Your wife is a KEEPER by the way!!! Cute too!!! Ray.

I dish washing liquid the same as dish-washer soap. Obviously I am not familiar with dish-washers.

Nope, if you use hand dish soap in the dishwasher you'll have a Three Stooges scene on your hands.

Nope. You put dish washing liquid in a dishwasher and your going to be cleaning up a HUGE mess! TOO MANY SUDS CAPTAIN!!!

                                Bam!

Try some kerosene in a squirt bottle and a toothbrush. This is what I used to clean out where the front sprocket resides, and it came out spickety-span. I'll most likely do this to the top end once removed as well. My wife would most likely let me use the dishwasher, given she was in the kitchen boiling some of my parts telling me it would "make very beautiful." lol

                                Can't live without em.
