cam chain tensioner

I was wondering what opinions might be regarding fixed aftermarket tensioners as compared to the oem unit.
Talking about a street only bike.
Anyone have any experience with them?

Are you talking about a manual cam chain tensioner? Race engines often use the manual tensioners, but I think they would work fine for the street. Obviously, you would need to adjust them periodically.

Greg B here makes them also & sells them new, with the gasket, for 35 bucks. I put them on EVERY motor I build because the factory tensioners, in MY opinion, are at best marginal. Ray.

See the blue bar up there that goes across your screen? About 2/3 across the screen is an item called "Search". Click on that, then click on the "Advanced Search" option that will show up. Don't move your mouse very far, your next thing is to click in the "Search by user name" window, which will be very close to where your mouse was when you clicked on "Advanced Search". Start typing in "g r e" (without the spaces), when you get the third letter typed in, it will show you all users that start with "gre". Click on "Greg B", you will be taken to a page that lists the last several threads in which he has posted. You can open any one of those threads and look for his name, but you will have an easier time if you scroll down and look for a thread that does not have very many posts.

Once again, the "SEARCH" feature comes into play.

The motors you put the manual adjusters on, street or strip only?

I've got an ape brand manual cam chain adjuster on my KZ750. Was easy enough to install but took some fiddling to get it adjusted. The hardest part is knowing if you have too much tension on the chain.
