    Engine Question

Is it OK to turn an engine counterclockwise?
    If not why?
I think I have read that you shouldn't somewhere. I am curious why.

    Thanks

You shouldn't, it has to do with the cam chain tensioner not being designed for it.

But if you did turn it backwards it probably didn't hurt anything.

I turn them backwards all the time during assembly & cam degreeing. Never been an issue. Ray.

You won't do any damage to an engine turning it in the reverse direction. I suppose you could prematurely wear the pads on a points based ignition if you sat there turning and turning and turning, or engage the starter clutch.
