Cleaning the outside of the headers

    Hi

Any ideas or thoughts on the best way to clean the stock headers on a 650 without removing it.

My biggest concern removing the current exhaust is stripping the bolts.

The headers seem to have baked on cr.p and just don't look nice.

    Hi,

Mother's Chrome Polish? There's also a product called "Blue Job" that works pretty good. Perhaps a polishing wheel on a hand drill? Use lots of elbow grease. I've used extra fine (0000) steel wool, but even that can leave fine scratches that will show up in direct sunlight.

    Thank you for your indulgence,

This is the ONLY thing that Coca-Cola & Al foil is good for, cleaning/polishing chrome.

what he said. don't use any abrasives because it'll ruin your chrome. unless the chrome is rusted pretty good, maybe you'd want to paint it black. any pics?

wow that look sbaked on and it seems someone painted the headers before. You might just want to hit them with a scouring pad/steel wool and repaint. or, if you're willing to take the exhaust off and spend some extra cash to get some exhaust wrap.
