I just picked up a new to me 1983 GS1100E with a 1982 Katana 1100 engine yesterday. It was a 2 hour drive to get it home and at about 4,000 rpm, when I open up the throttle in any gear, it just boggs right down. As I ease back up a little, it slowly starts to accelerate. I checked the plugs this morning and they are white so I decided to pull the carbs. I'm not all that familiar with these carbs but I also have a 1998 Suzuki Bandit whose carbs I know inside out and are not that different to these.
Can anyone tell me what the stock float height, pilot and main jet sizes are and if these needles can be shimmed at all. I plan on rejetting, going with a 4 into 1 and K&N pod filters over the winter but in the meantime would at least like to get it running better. It has stock exhaust and stock filter but I do have a K&N replacement for it. I'm not sure if I will buy a jet kit or go with my own. I do have an assortment of jets lying around but they may be a little large.
Any jetting information would be appreciated. Can you suggest what to go with with stock exhaust and K&N filter.
Thanks,
Sean
