does anyone know if there is any difference between the wheel on an '81 gs850 vs '82 gs850? the speedo drive on my '82 is broken, and i was gonig to replace it with one from a '81, but i don't know if it'll be compatible / give the right speed reading. thanks!

Should be ok if the wheel diameter is the same. I am running a speedo drive off a GS400 as it is geared for an 18" wheel rather than a 19"Comment

Even though the spoke pattern looks different, these two wheels are perfectly interchangeable. The 81 front wheel takes a tube. See the thread we've been engaging in on the subject of rims.
