wet condition problem

Well this is the first problem I've run across on my new GS1100E.
I rode it home in the RAIN :?. Forty miles in the rain. When I got close to the driveway the bike died I was rolling about 10 mph and popped the clutch as started it back up when I came to a stop it would not start. The next day it started right up. Yesterday I took it to the car wash and washed off the dirt from the 40-mile ride in the rain and after the bath it would not start. I got it started finally by choking it and letting it run for 4 or 5 minutes, then it was fine.
It is apparent to me I'm getting some moisture in the ignition system somewhere. Anyone have a suggestion on where I should look first.
I'm thinking that the connection between the sparkplug wires and the coil might need a look see.

Does it turn over when it's wet and just not fire or does it just click? Do you have the stock airbox or pod filters?

It turns over fine it doesn't seem to have any spark. But as a said if I can get the RPMs up it will go.
Airbox, I believe there was a lid for the airbox but it is gone to make it breath for the aftermarket 4 to 1 exhaust. I thought about water in the intake, but I did not think about checking the to see if the filter was wet until long after the bath and it was runnign fine.

Check to see how wet the air filter gets after you wash it because you might be getting some water in the carbs. You may also want to check and see how dry it is in the spark plug boots. You won't get a good spark if it's wet under there.

Chuck, You might be getting some water down into some of your spark plug caps. I've had this happen on dirt bikes before. Try putting a little dab of black automotive silicone, right around where the plug wire goes into the each plug cap to keep the water out. It might just cure it.
