    Shock Replacement

    Hello all,
its getting a bit warmer down here in TX, and I figured I better get my GS into riding shape for this summer.
Can anyone tell my what kind of a job it is replacing the shocks on my
    82 GS650G (shafty) ?

I need to replace the rear shocks, forks look alright though I dont really know what to look for except for leaks, clean out the carbs, new tires, and new air filter..

if you can enlighten me on the shock replacement I would appreciate it.
    Thanks
    Tom

Pricy? I checked them out, but my budget probably cant afford as expensive as those look *L*
      Thanks for the post though...
I will probably get a descent brand shock but not a cheapo.. somewhere in between.
Can I change them myself? I am somewhat mechanical minded, have pulled the carbs and cleaned them and replaced intake boots.. how hard are shocks to replace? any special tools?
      Thanks
      Tom

I haven't seen the G bikes up close but it's dead simple on the Es. You may have to loosen up the rear exhaust to pull the shocks out. The shocks only have a bolt on each end so there's nothing to it if you keep a record as to how the washers were placed.
