    1150 Head on 1100 Engine?

Has anyone put an 1150 head on an 1100 engine? Can it be done? If it can, is it worth the effort?

Yes it will fit straight on, but it makes little difference , you are better off just using 1150 cams .

One minor difference is that the '80 and '81 1100 had a mechanical tach that was driven off the exhaust cam...later models did not have this.

You have to change the studs. 1100 are different lenghts. 1150 are all the same. The 1150 will flow much better than an 1100 head. I did some port work on my 1100 head and it's still not as big as a stock 1150 head.

Another advantage of the 1150 head is the valve cover. Much easier off and on. If I had a spare 1150 head I would use it if I had the engine apart already.

I'm getting ready to install a 1260 block on an 82 1100 engine I've had sitting around. Got a spare 1150 top end and figured I could make even more power that way.
