Bolt grades: 8 vs. 8.8
i'm redoing my clutch plates this weekend, and want to change the bolts. someone said to use grade 8, i noticed grade 8.8 at the hardware store. are these as good?Tags: None

No. The grade 8 is an SAE designation for imperial sized bolts, the 8.8 is a metric designation for metric bolts and is equivalent to an SAE grade 5. A metric grade 10.9 is equivalent to the grade 8 ones. Look for the 10.9 grade for your clutch bolts.i noticed grade 8.8 at the hardware store. are these as good?

thanks mark i do remember 10.9 at the hardware store, do u know of a web site that gets into all the sizes and stuff?

These guys are a commercial supplier, but they will sell small quantities and there is a lot of info there if you use the search engine and look around some.do u know of a web site that gets into all the sizes and stuff?
