The bike is in fantastic shape and super clean with 24000 km on it. Unfortunately the bike isn't running as well as it should be.
The problem is that the bike is utterly lacking in power. The bike starts well and will idle fine but will not pull like it should. In particular I can't get the bike up to highway speeds...ie when I shift into 4th (or 5th) gear the bike will not accelerate at all even with wide open throttle. The previous owner had the carbs out and cleaned/rebuilt last year. I pulled the plugs and they are blackened (running rich?) The bike has the stock 4-2 exhaust and the stock jets (as far as I know) I have a new battery and have checked the charging system and it is a.o.k. Air filter is brand new and clean.
Any suggestions? Do the carbs need to be synched? I am a rookie when it comes to wrenching on bikes but am very willing to learn and if there's something I can do to cure this myself I'd be a happy man.
Thanks in advance!
Randy
