Pilot screw adjustment with CV carbs

Okay, checked the plugs and left is just a tad darker than brown, right is white in the centre with carbon flaking off the end of the threaded section. I had right pilot screw 1/4 turn less than left as this is how I found it so I'm going to open it to the same as the left plug. Will this affect my sync enough that it's worth pulling the tank and hooking the mercury octupus up? Do you think the pilot screw is even the reason the plug is white?
