    GS550E general rebuild ?

Hi, I'm new to the forum, but wow, great site!!!

I might be able to get my hands on some New pistons cheap, so I might to this & get new rings, etc... Valves have been harder to find as cheap, so I was considering just cleaning the ones I have and soaking in Chem-Dip. If I don't get the new pistons, can I soak them as well? What about the springs?

I am going to get a new cam chain, what else would you recommend to change, check? The engine is stock right now. Carbs have been dismantled & cleaned already and waiting patiently.

    Thx!!!

Well as far as what can go into the Chem-dip, pretty much anything that isnt rubber or plastic. The cleaner sprays aren't as corrosive but the dip is. Thats my two cents. I'd actually like to know too how to 'rebuild' an engine.
