Tachometer Jumping with 1978 GS 400

Hey- I'm Just writing to ask about some tachometer issues with my 78 GS400.

Whenever I rev the engine to about 6 thousand rpms and hold it there for any length of time, It jumps from about 5-7 th. RPMS. It seems like the tachometer cannot keep up with the engine.

Is there any kind of lube I can use?
Is this a normail problem?
Any Suggestions?

ps. I also have a similar problem with the Speedometer, but it's about 5 mph jump.

They make lubes just for cables, try at a M/C shop or an online parts seller.

Yep, from my experience the cable needs lubing. It will get worse if you dont lube it, it will jump around at lower rpms also and will eventually break. Same can happen with speedo cables.

thats weird, because I was gonna ask the EXACT same question about my '78 GS400 tach...
