'81 850 rear suspension mounting hardware / handling issues

Hi all...I'm just taking off my rear shocks when I noticed that the previous owner did not have all of the correct washers in place ( according to the schematic I found on bikebandit.com http://houseofmotorcycles.bikebandit...dept_id=721176
)

My first question is this, bikebandit list sizes for all the washers except parts 15 and 16 anybody know what size these should be?

My second question is could missing spacers in the rear suspension be the cause of a cornering "weaving" that I seem to experience mostly in high speed corners, although the bike has tried to throw me twice on low speed (30-40kph) very tight curves 8O 8O .

I have also recently replaced the fluid and the metal spacers in the front forks...I replaced the spacers because the previous owner had cut the original spacers to lower the front end. This left almost half an inch of free space inbetween the spacer and the end of the fork #-o I replaced them with longer galvanized pipe. Is this okay or am I playing with fire? How long are the original spacers? There is 10psi of air in the front forks.

I'd really like to get this sorted out because the handling of this bike is not confidince inspiring,.to say the least!

Your best bet for the front is progressive fork springs/They come with several spacers to finetune, Check the swing arm brgs too if you can( requires removal of the swingarm) The stock shocks when new were not that good.

It could be a simple as your tires - if your back tire is pretty worn out in the middle, the bike will get squirrly when you lean onto the better side rubber - if that's it , put on a new back tire

I just gave the rear tire a thorough once over and it seems to me that it should be replaced...It's pretty bare in some spots. I'll pick up a new tire and see if that makes a difference. Thanks!

ooooooo if the rear tire is flat across the middle it will make the bike handle squirrely, as you lean over into a turn it fights to stay upright them pops over the edge, this messes with thegeopetry and causes the wiggle, it also feels strainge.
a new tire will work wonders.
also the ride hight in the front makes a big differance in the way the bike feels in corners.
