I'm rebuilding the tank on my 81 GS850GL. I'd like to modify the tank to eliminate the fuel sensor, and have a different gas cap on it. I've seen some weld-in bungs and gas caps available for racing applications, and a few different flush gas caps and bungs available through Dennis Kirk and other places. Now the big question I have is this:
Is the tank a pressurized tank, or does the stock gas cap have a vent? It does not appear as the aftermarket flush caps have a vent.
Also, the petcock is totally frozen, and should be replaced. It looks like there are two lines coming from it. One going in, and one coming out?
If anyone here could counsel me on this a little I woudl be very greatful. I'd like a flush-mount cap, but obviously not if its going to keep it from running correctly. Has anyone here been through this?
