Mounted GSXR shock on 550

How about rotating the shock 180 degrees so the reservior is rear of the link instead of in front? You may then be able to keep the centre stand.

I jsut tried this and there isn't enough tire clearence when axel in set all the way forward. The piggy back still gets in the way of the centerstand this way too. it's wider than the CS

Just curious: how does the rebound compare to the stock shock? I would guess it is much stiffer and would require a change to the front suspension as well?

I have been away for awhile and even missed the gs rally. As far as the comparing to the stock shock, mine was completely trashed so I don't know what a good stock shock feels like.

You may be able to keep the center stand if you have some fab/welding ability.

Well.. because the stock shock is a damper rod design the rebound is much stiffer than it should be, so that the compression damping is somewhat close to what it should be.

You need about three times as much compression damping as rebound damping. The GSXR shock actually seems to have equal or less rebound damping, but the compression damping is stronger at slow speeds. However the GSXR shock also has high speed and low speed damping... So it's very, very difficult to compare the two.
