    New Airless Tires from Michelin

Not sure if this is the thread for this but if they were available now, I guess they would be in here.
I havent read anything about them here in the forum so I thought Id post some pics and we can all dream a little.

They debut'd (?) at the philidelphia intnl car show.

    We live in exiting times.

Ugly without the sidewalls but very cool idea. Would make riding safer...

If they ever come out with those for bikes, I want 'em. Imagine how smooth that ride must be when the tires absorb all that shock, and look at how much contact patch must is on the ground at all times with those.

Yeah, they would be good on bikes, but they would still need to have a rounded profile for good cornering. This would reduce the the contact area when compared to the auto equivilant. Great idea, Michelin will make a killing with these.

I wonder if the contact patch on a rounded profile version of this tire would allow for a bigger contact patch than current motorcycle tires. Probably, look at how much rubber is on the road on the car version. If so, we might see even better handling than the best radials out there today.

With the flexing action through cornering and general shock absorbing, I doubt that mud would have a chance to stick between those gussets.
