I have a stock 82 GS850G and would appreciate suggestions for performance mods. I really like the bike and I'm willing to spend a few bucks. Thanks in advance.

Modding a shaft drive bike may put extra strain on the drive unit and that isn't a good thing. I'd get a chain drive bike to mod like a 1000 or an 1100 and even some of the 750's are good candidates. The "G" models (as well as some "L" models) are really just cruisers made to be just cruisers. Sometimes oranges don't make good apples.

I specialize in 16 valve GSs but I would be interested to know if you could put a 1000 topend & cylinders on an 850?! Ray.
