    Picked up a 2001 Katana 600 - What can I use?

    Hi all.

    I recently picked up a 2001 Katana GSX 600 F (built in 11/00). Bike has no title (not stolen- VIN has been run), so I can either sell it whole for parts/track bike or tear it apart, use what I can and sell the rest. It's all there & all together aside from the bodywork, which is all there but pulled off. Haven't had time to try to get it running yet, but I think it will.

    I'm going to try to sell it whole, but if that doesn't work, what can I use to upgrade my '78 GS 750? I 'm thinking this would be a perfect donor for new wheels/tires/brakes/suspension.. Anybody know if the steering stem is the same size? Swingarm pivot? I'm sure not much will bolt right up, but is it really that far off?

      The entire front end will bolt right on to your bike & the swingarm is ALMOST a bolt on but then you would need to have rear shock mounting points made & welded on. It would take a little bit of time but would be well worth it! I think the carb spacing will work too but don't know if your intake manifolds are big enough diameter to fit them. Good luck! Ray.

          Excellent.
          I was thinking I could chop the rear mount off the Kat frame and weld it onto the GS (with extra bracing).. Haven't looked at dimensions yet.

          After looking around a little harder at bikes with similar mods on this site, I'm really thinking hard about using this donor to seriously mod my bike. Sisu1970's bike is really inspiring!

              file for a sheriffs title. and bring a bill of sale from the previous owner if they are still around.

                  Measure carefully before making the front end swap. 2 valve 750s have different steering head bearings than newer/larger GSs

                      Ha!! I have a Holeshot pipe on my 1100EZ. Nothing sounds like a Holeshot. They howl. And Dale Walker is a good guy to do business with, too. I have sent him many emails, and he always responded with good advice. He didn't have to, either, cause he doesn't even make stuff specifically for GSs. Gave me a smoking deal on a pipe he made from blemished material....I had to call him back and ask where the blemish was! He said, "on the bottom of the can, and you have to hold it up at an angle to see it....". Sure enough, it took a minute or so to find the blemish, even when I knew where to look!
