Where I'm up to

My 78 GS1000 now has another complete new front-end : and is slowly coming together. Still lots to do at the moment the exhaust is held on with bungee cords but you can see how well the titanium 4 into 2 into 1 from a GSXR750 slabside fits. Headlight looks too far forward, front of mudguard is too long (and a kwak colour). Hope to have the front end completed by the end of next week, then I will start on the rear by fitting the new swingarm, WP shocks and 17"x5"spoked rear wheel. Once that is done I can see what angle the pipe will end up at and make up a hanger bracket, I think it looks a little too low. I can't make my mind up on that seat, just got it from ebay and dropped it on for the pic, I really have my heart set on a Zero seat like the one on KGB's bike, so if you have one let me know. Tell me know what you think on any of the above, all opinions positive or negative welcome

Would the front fender flip so the longer portion is to the rear of the mounts?

What color will it be in the end?

Looks good really. I honestly don't see an issue with the front fender. The seat looks good too. Did you have to reshape the exhaust to line up with the bottom of the frame?

I cant turn the guard around as the front is wider buts its not a problem to cut & reshape it. As for the pipe, I have only had to elongate the stud holes in the mounting collars as the GS exhaust studs in the head are slightly wider apart. Almost looks like it was made for it and weighs next to nothing :-)

I'm with you on the headlight, but the front fender looks fine to me.

what are you going to do about the rear? run the steel swing or go gs1100 swing?

poke around on the internet, and ebay, i am not a fan of those head light brakets they are kinda chaep/flimsy looking, i know i have seen better looking one out there. i'll see what i can come up with.

I think it looks great the way it is, except for the fender color of course. Seat too. If it is comfortable, I'd keep it.

dude, that front end looks sweet, even better than bikes with upside down forks. Can't wait to see what the rear end will look like!

The whole "package" works well as it is. I think the seat could be a bit more low-slung, but other than that it looks pretty sharp...Minus the slime-green color on the fender, that is.

Well done Simon!! that looks cool :-) any chance of seeing it with a red mudguard or even the whole thing in a different colour ( or should that be color? 2 nations divided by a common language ;-) ) the front end is from a ZRX1100 as I wanted a sympathetic updated version of the GS1000 and USD forks on old bikes just don't cut the mustard for me. They are fully adjustable for pre-load, compression & rebound but I did have to machine the yokes to accept a Suzuki stem to make them fit. I have looked everywhere for headlight brackets for 43mm forks and they are all rubbish, these are custom one off's in stainless steel but were made for twin lights but should be easy enough to shorten and they look much cooler in the flesh.
The swing arm was actually bought first, its a tubular alloy item, also from ZRX but takes a bit more thought to adapt than the front end but looks really period & not at all out of place. I didn't want to use so many parts from the one bike but after buying fully adjustable Whitepower rear shocks I thought the front should match and after looking into the specification of Kawasaki it was an obvious option.

It will go a little higher once I remove the center stand & other unwanted brackets. Have a look at most 4 into 1's with a 2 on top of 2 collector they are even lower than this.
