I have put the V&H exhaust on my bike and the sound is too quiet for my liking. Heck the factory exhaust on the stock motor was louder. It does run better though. Anybody do any mods to the baffle to make it louder? Don't want too loud just a good powerful sound. I though about pulling out the fiberglass and putting the baffle back in. I ran it without the baffle and it was way too loud. Any ideas?

I dont know wehat your bafel looks like but if there is a washer welded to the inlet which restricts the flow through the center you might want to remove that. My baffel is a dummy and the only real noise restriction comes from the fiber glass. I find with the straight through pipe and the fiberglass left in, the exhaust is deep and enjoyable but not quietOriginally posted by Benny RI have put the V&H exhaust on my bike and the sound is too quiet for my liking. There is no washer to restrict flow. It has a cone shaped part that makes the exhaust go to the center and then the fiberglass in behind that. Is that what you are talking about. If I took that off I would think the baffle will rattle. It holds the front of the baffle.

My brothers kz1300 had some sort of restricting thing. We just cut it out and the sound was great. You an always weld it back in if you like.Originally posted by Benny RThere is no washer to restrict flow. Vance and hines mods
Hello fellow gs'ers Heres a tip for the vance & hines supersport exhaust. What I did was remove the baffle and remove the packing from the baffle. I suggest that you remove half of the packing then replace the baffle. This way you get the best of both worlds.Quiet sound at idle, and a nice increase in volume as the rpms increase. I personally only have about 2 in of packing on the end of my baffle and love the sound. hope this helps you out. 8) JACK

I took all the packing out of the baffle and I like the sound it is about right. It sounds a little funny below 5000 but above it sounds great.

vance and hines has a comp baffle wich fits right in the megaphone exhaust. It is a larger diameter hole and shorter in length, it makes more power, and if you use it with no fiberglass its loud but it will run like the wind if you are jetted properly. I got my comp baffle through dennis kirk a couple years ago, but I think they still sell itOriginally posted by Benny RI took all the packing out of the baffle and I like the sound it is about right. Thats what I use also when i want to be a little quieter. It also makes my bottem and a little smoother. It reminds me of a baffel with no restriction and the part with the holes in it is in in a reversed position.Originally posted by skip[vance and hines has a comp baffle wich fits right in the megaphone exhaust. I called V&H last week and they said they had no comp style baffle for this system. They lady I talked to came back with an answer so quick it made me wonder if she gets that question alot.

You can also use newer GSXR1100 (oil cooled ones) pipes with little fiddling...so there`s lot`s moore where to choose. Yoshimura 4:1 is powerful pipe and arrow has beatiful and cheap exhausts, my friend uses Bandit 1200 pipe in Katana, don`t know if there are arrow dealers in states?
