Guest replied[quote=mthomason;780136]Glad to hear that the DOT4 fluid is ok for both. What did you use to fill the fluid, one of those "mightyvac" things?

mothomason, I used a power vac which maybe simular to the mightvac that you are referring to. The vac lines goes on the caliper valve where it sucks the old fluid and air bubbles into a inline canister. once it is mostly clear, I finished it off with a 1 man brake bleed kit. Piece of cake!
Isleoman, Wow nice looking setup! I originally thought of using the GS master cylinder mount that has the mirror hole which looked liked it would work, but then I thought, now what do I do about the clutch side. The levers would be miss matched. How did you get your levers to match?? -
Guest repliedI read somewhere on the forum that I should be using the matching master cylinder as my calipers when doing a brake upgrade and actually have the GSXR one it but it did not have provisions for the rear view mirror so I decided to not use them. After looking at my stock master, I noticed that it said to use either Dot 3 or 4 brake fluid so I just drained out the old Dot 3 and refilled it with the Dot 4 to be compatible with the newer calipers. Thought what the heck, there was not much to loose. I have to say, I took my bike out for a spin today and the front brakes felt great! Personally, I thought it was better than it was stock. As for the grips, yes it the stock one that I had for the last 25 years. They were still in good shape so I kept them for now.
Ah Grass Hopper,
The answer came to me in a moment of Zen.
Use the half of your GS master cylinder mount that has the mirror hole and attach it to the master cylinder half of your GSXR mount.

When I got my GSXR front end, I dis-assembled the six pots and did a complete rebuild. I flushed my stainless brake lines and the GSXR master cylinder with Dot 5 brake fluid and refilled and bled the system with Dot 5.
Heresy you say, you can't use Dot 5 the sky will fall. And yet here I am still posting.
The Dot 5 won't take the paint off your tank, master cylinder, wheels or calipers and it works every bit as well.
The angle of the GSXR1100 master cylinder (coming off of clip ons) won't allow you to totally fill it but you can get enough in there for it to work properly.Leave a comment:

25 year old grips, wow! I suppose mine have at least two more years left (23 yrs old)...ha ha, they must have been made of some space age material like soylent green or something...Leave a comment:

Guest repliedI was wondering if you "milked" the brakes yet? I see you have an original master cylinder and was wondering how they felt...
I see you kept the original grips...I really like them, so I have kept mine on, too.
Thanks, for any reply.Leave a comment:

Seen this thread in the past
But now I'm studying it closer and picking up about 1/4 after seeing RJ's GSXR mods to his GS1100EZ.
My GS1100ED is not much different from your GS100ESD so keep it up; you seem to be in the home stretch.

Guest repliedOk, I have some updated pictures! I finally got the stock bars, gauges and controls remounted back on the 1995 GSXR 750 front forks. I even got all of the electrical hooked back up and fired her up! It was a nice to hear her back running again. Just a few more thing to do and she will be back on the road. Check it out!

Guest repliedMy speedo cable for a bandit 1200 came in today which I have installed and fit perfectly! Thanks Katman.
I also installed a new 530 17 tooth 13mm offset sprocket today which took care of the chain to frame rubbing problem. Here is the link if anyone is interested.

Tone, I metered everything out when I did the ignition swap and all went well. I even fired my bike up the other day so I dont think the ignition will be an issue, but thanks!

Guest repliedyou can't use a gs speedo drive with a gsxr wheel..
using the early 90's speedo drive, or a bandit 1200 drive or RF 900 or any other suzuki speedo that fits the wheel you are using gives you accurate speed.Leave a comment:

Guest repliedI swapped out my stock suspension for gsxr stuff...used earlier stuff, though. My speedo is more accurate than before; if you use the GS speedo drive, it will be off more... but if you just buy a gsxr speedo drive, and speedo cable, it'll be fine. Looks fantastic, by the way!!Leave a comment:

Guest repliedhi Kichigai this probably dosen't apply to you if you've fitted & tested your new ignition & it works but are you aware that some of the later gsxr & all (i think) bandits ignitions are fitted with a resistor which causes starting problems when changing onto a different bike
electrics are not my strong point so maybe its a resistor needs fitting i'm not 100% sure but thought it worth mentioning in case of problems 8-[

Guest repliedGSXR front into a GS850

This front end was from a GSXR 750, 740mm came with a 120 x 60 x 17 tyre. Changed the tyre for a 120 x 70 x 17 and it made a big difference to the ride height.
Steering is very much quicker than a braced GS front and ...I think...looks the part!
Goood luck with the fork swop.Leave a comment:
