shaft vs chain - wheel interchangable?

Hello all. I have an 82 GS650g that is in need of new tires. I would like to upgrade to radials if possible, but there's not much available in the 130/90-16 size for the rear. Some of the GS's had a 17" rear wheel, for which there seem to be some good tire choices. But from what I can see it was the 1100's that had the 17" wheel, and they were chain driven. Can the chain and shaft drive wheels be swapped? Are there any other options for the rear?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chain drive wheels will not fit shaft drive bikes. If you want a 17 inch wheel that should fit, it looks like you should look for a 650 G wheel. 850/1000/1100G might fit, you'll have to do some parts number comparisons.
