    According to Dynatek, the mini coils will overheat with the Dyna-S ignitions - something to do with the dwell on the Dyna-S units.

    As to the large coils shorting in rain - the easy solution is to coat the terminals with liquid electrical tape. This stuff is available from most auto parts stores.

    Yes, the Dyna-S will work on the later bikes IF you install the mechanical advancer froman earlier GS.

    The Dyna 2000 is a very nice unit - the only drawback is finding a home for the control box - roughly a 6" x 3" x 1" box. The 2000 is really overkill on a stock street bike - you do get a built in rev limiter and programability, but the Dyna-S is a solid performer.
