    Pilot: 22.5
    Needle: 5DL31-4

    Air Screw: 1/2 - 1 turn out
    Throttle Valve Cut Away: 2.0
I just started dipping my set. Looks like I have the "Kawasaki" set-up:

    Pilot: 25
    Needle: 5DL31
    Main: 120
    Throttle Valve Cut Away: 1.5

Without going through this whole thread, didn't you mention somewhere that you started out with the 1.5 cut aways?

I'm hoping I can make my set work with the 1.5 cut aways. They want over 50.00 each for new ones!

That's why I replated a used set of 2.0 T/V with Electroless Nickel. All other things being equal the 1.5's can be considered richer than the 2.0's. The 1.5 work fine at sealevel as many owners & myself can attest to. But when I moved to Denver I could not eliminate a part throttle stumble when transitioning between the pilot & needle which occurred right @ 3000 rpm. The 2.0's fixed that symptom on mine. I would just run it and see if you even have a problem before throwing money at like I have done stupidly over the years.

I did see a nice set of VM29 slides on EBay 3 weeks ago which I watched for curosity sake. Starting bid $100 for the set, no bids.

          Good luck
          Steve

As you can see on these pages http://www.sudco.com/vol33/33-36.pdf the Kaws and Suzukis used different slides on the smoothbore carbs. I bought a new set (many years ago) of 33 smoothbores for a friends KZ1000 and it ran poorly after endless jetting. Turns out they sent us a set for a Suzuki.....Instead of returning the carbs, they just sent me the correct slides, air jets , etc. and the bike ran great......Billy

Thanks for the link BBB. I see that many of the parts that are still available for the 29's have the VM26 prefix, including the fuel tees and o rings which some have said were no longer available for the VM26SS.
Also the slides go up to 2.5 cutaway. They dont list the matching jetting for either Kawa or Suzi models. Must be for those running over 10,000 ft above sea level, eh?

Do you recall what your set-up was when you lived at sea level? I'm rebuilding a set of 29's for Tom MLC, and he lives at sea level. His GS1000 is stock except for pipe and pods. His set of 29's have the 1.5 tv's. like you originally had. Thanks.

hmm i might be able to help when i get home, i can dig into my carbs and see what's inside, I have the 1.5 slides too. I got everything running pretty good when i was living in chicago and the bike was stock, not sure what elevation that is compared to Tom. I think the only thing i changed was I went a little smaller on the piliots.

ok i just check, i am running 1.5 cut aways, 117.5 mains and #20 piliot jets. It was running good in chicago and robinsville north carolina. I would try that and see how it goes. This was a stock engine with pods and a 4 into 1.

Thanks, Ryan! A big help. Did you notice where the needle clips were?
