What about the frame bracing??? That's what I'm waiting for. Wanna see what goes down so I can get some ideas for my 1000. Not looking to go too crazy, just add a little more meat in the places that need it. Any info on this? I have a bunch of steel plate left over from my trailer build. Was thinking of using that too.

If I EVER get this motor back together, I'll then be starting on the frame. I'll post up what I do with the frame. I will probably go with this bracing:

More delays. The cam chain guide I bought is wrong. Tried to save a few bucks, but to no avail. The one I bought is on the bottom, top one is stock...

One more cover to paint.

Still no pistons installed yet. I decided to get a new cam chain guide and a manual tensioner. Once I have them I'll get 'er done.

The VM29's are going into the dip this weekend.

I'll be taking pics and posting through the whole process. This thread might drag out a bit, as I will be picking away at it probably all winter. I hope to have this bike done for spring. If I keep plugging away, I should make it. Still a few parts to obtain, but I pretty much have everything I need. I just need to do the labor.

Were you to do it, would you want the dogs undercut or the gears or both? As was explained to me, the biggest problem run into is the gear dogs themselves rather than the actual gears, so THEY would be undercut so that they meshed more precisesly the harder they were used. Again, i dunno bout this stuff so im trying to learn BTW, I will be watching this threat intently, as if your other beautiful machines are any indicator, this will be one awesome project to behold. Please supply with pics and explainations as frequently as possible!

Honestly, I don't see much difference from their pic to mine. They must cut a steeper angle when they undercut, but you can see that the dogs on mine are already cut at an angle.

I debated whether to get the undercut gears and decided not to. They already are undercut to a degree. The 1000 tranny is strong and smooth. Unless you plan on romping on it 24/7, from what I've read, it's tough enough to handle anything else.

Cool, was just more curious for my own knowlege, not questioning your tactics at all. I am not all that up on the understanding of the tranny itself.
